Become a Volunteer!
Volunteers are at the heart hospice and an essential part of the hospice care we provide at The Bloom Group. We believe that through a supportive community we can provide better care, and for this we invite volunteers to join our hospice team.
The journey as a Volunteer for the Bloom Group allows you to touch many people’s lives in the most meaningful way by providing compassion, care, and comfort for residents and their loved ones. There are infinite ways to do so, and they are all equally important and significant – from bringing a cup of tea to reading a book for someone or helping in the garden. If you have any special skills residents can definitely benefit from them as well.
Our Hospice Volunteer Program consists of a 1 year commitment of 4 hours a week at either of our 2 hospices, Cottage Hospice and May’s Place. We provide a 20 hrs training program that follows the BC Hospice Palliative Care Association framework in addition to the specialized work we do in the DTES when facing cases of mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. Our hospice volunteer training is offered to volunteers after acceptance at no cost and provides a certificate to volunteers after successfully completing the training.
If you would like to join a wonderful team of amazing, committed, and compassionate volunteers, we would love to have you join us.
