Program Spotlight
One Woman’s Journey to a New Life in Canada
Upon leaving her home country of Azerbaijan in March 2022, Humay and her 4-year-old son arrived at the Vancouver airport expecting to be met by her husband who was living in the city. After waiting at the airport for nine hours, with $100 in her pocket, and no friends or other family in Vancouver, Humay sought refuge at Springhouse emergency women’s shelter. Her husband never showed up.
According to Humay, “My Canadian life started after that”.
Springhouse staff and program activities helped her “to quickly rehabilitate” so she didn’t “feel alone”. For Humay, Springhouse means “safe, family, home”. See why “Every woman who faced experience like me should … find like these places”.

Since our first walking tour in July this year, The Bloom Group hosted six tours of several residential housing sites and programs operated by The Bloom Group in the Downtown Eastside.
The tours were well received and guests appreciated the opportunity to see our work in the community first-hand.
The next tour will take place in 2024. Please check back with us in the new year for the 2024 tour schedule.
Thanks very much for giving me this opportunity for the inside look on some of the facilities that Bloom Group operates for the good folk that are lucky enough to have Bloom Group’s care and encouragement.
I was very impressed and am grateful.
The residents and the staff are challenged to make life better……………and the positive results are there to be seen.
